What Is Direct Primary Care?

Direct Primary Care, or DPC, is monthly membership that provides unlimited access to a doctor without copays, deductibles and without billing or using insurance.

Plum Health members get to call, text, email or visit their provider anytime to get primary care services like physicals, preventive care, urgent care, managing chronic diseases, and mental healthcare, without worry about hidden fees.

Todd R. Otten, MD

Todd R. Otten, MD, is a board-certified family physician and co-founder of Our Quadruple Aim, a movement that challenges the status quo in healthcare and promotes patient experience, quality care, lower costs, and provider wellness. He has over 20 years of experience in providing quality patient care, leading teams, and managing projects in various settings, including the United States Navy, where he was honored as the naval flight surgeon of the year in 2006 for the Atlantic Fleet.

He is also the co-author of Ripple of Change, a book that shares his unfiltered journey through burnout and the existing dysfunction in healthcare, and offers a bare bones approach to evaluate, reimagine, and inspire positive disruption in the industry and beyond. He is passionate about empowering patients and healthcare providers to become agents of change, and to turn their ripples into waves of lasting impact. He is currently the Lead Catalyst/Board Chair for Medicine Forward and involved with numerous advocacy/activism efforts across the country. He is also an executive producer for a documentary to pull the curtain back on the existing mess in healthcare - Suck it Up, Buttercup Trust and Betrayal in American Medicine

Nicole Pearson, FNP-C

Nicole Pearson, FNP-C is a Board-Certified Family Nurse Practitioner proudly recognized by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. Nicole's journey began at Michigan State University, where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, laying the solid foundation for her career. Further advancing her expertise, she pursued her Family Nurse Practitioner certification at the University of Michigan-Flint. With over a decade of diverse patient care experience, Nicole is not just a practitioner; she's a dedicated patient advocate, committed to ensuring each individual receives personalized attention and compassion. Her approach is rooted in Evidence-Based Medicine, integrating the latest advancements into the fabric of care. Education is at the core of Nicole's passion. As a firm believer in empowerment through knowledge, she strives to not only treat but to educate, fostering a collaborative approach to wellness. Her vibrant spirit and commitment to excellence make her not just a healthcare provider but a trusted ally in your pursuit of well-being.

Rachel Smith, FNP-BC

Rachel Smith, FNP-BC is a board certified family nurse practitioner who is passionate about merging evidence-based healthcare with a proactive approach to wellness. She earned a Master’s of Science in Nursing from Duke University, and is a member of the American Academy of Nurse practitioners. Rachel’s focus is working with patients to improve their health and quality of life through prevention and healthier habits. She believes that good communication and building strong relationships play a key role in providing excellent healthcare, and strives to deliver care tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
